We Are Back

Cujo here. We have returned and I don't like it! We had a wonderful time at our new house. The sun came out every day and warmed things up.

Mom made our yard way bigger and we had so much fun sniffing and marking our new territory. I don't remember if I told you how small our yard was before. It was barely big enough for us dogs to walk around in. It was right next to the steps from our porch and the sun never reached it. There are bushes blocking the sun and it was always dark and depressing. We did our business and went back onto the porch. Us dogs likes to lay on the grass in the sun, you know.

Mom told Dad to bring all the portable fencing he could find and she put all the fences together. Bo was so happy. He stayed outside everyday until the sun went down. Mom asked him what he was doing and he said he was just thinking how great it will be when we move for good.

I stayed close to Mom. It is my job to protect her. Eddie is a trainee for this role when I am no longer able to do it. I am trying to teach him not to be so nice to other people. I am failing miserably on that point!

HeWho is our Dad was quite busy. The first day was spent unloading a trailer with boxes and Mom's plants. Then Dad left with the trailer to get something he called siding. Mom played with her plants and gave them what she called a big drink of water. She talks to these plants while she picks dead leaves and trims them up. They never talk back, though. Since Dad was not there she sang with Bo and all of us other dogs joined in. She told us to listen to the echo when we stopped. I heard it, so I howled a bit to hear it again. I was quite pleased with the results.

We don't sing when Dad is around. He squints his eyes up and tells us to knock it off. His hearing aides make a high pitched noise when we sing. He says it hurts his ears. Maybe he should turn them off and sing with us!

Dad didn't come back until dark and we all ate dinner and sat around. There is no TV yet. No internet either. Nothing to do but talk and play ball with Bo. It was warm in our new house. Mom said it was well insulated, whatever that means. This house we are in is never warm and cozy. Mom says it is drafty. Even with a fire in the wood stove, it is never just right. It is too hot in the living room and cold in the bedroom.

Mom and Dad played something called "cards". Then we all went to bed. Tomorrow I will tell you about our big adventure taking the trailer called a "U-haul" to another place to give it back.

I'm glad you got a bigger yard this time, Cujo. Hopefully you can get some internet soon after you get settled there, so we can see some pictures, and your Mom can have something to do besides singing!
