Flat Stanley Has Arrived

I got a letter from my precious Layla (8 year old granddaughter). She sent Flat Stanley for a visit. Flat Stanley has never been here before and he is to take in the sights and report back. This granddaughter is no more loved than the rest of my grandchildren; but she holds a special place in my heart. She is sweet and shy and wants to learn to sew. Her mom is artistic, as well, but her medium is not fabric. Layla and I can spend a day looking at fabric....not if Jill is with us, though. This being said, Flat Stanley will have to have the adventure of his flat life before he returns to Layla. This is a class assignment and if I know Layla, she thought long and hard before choosing to send him to me. I feel honored and will do my best to make her Flat Stanley a stand-out, rising above all the other Flat Stanleys in her class. Hmmmm, Flat Stanley might need some new flat clothes...... Yes the wheels are turning in my tiny brain..........

Ha ha I have Flat Stanley for the month, too. My husband took him to California with him yesterday, so Flat Stanley went to his first board meeting, but we have a picture of him getting air sick in the "barf" bag. We are making plans to do things just so Flat Stanley will be interesting for my nephew. Fun, though.

LOL, what the heck is a Flat Stanley?
It sounds a little like a project we did for the Brownie Girl Scouts. We had a Teddy Bear that we outfitted with a backpack full of supplies. He had a journal and a couple disposable cameras and a letter of introduction. We left him on an airplane... Oh I think I will blog about this on my travel site tonight! I was looking for inspiration! Thanks. But back to my original thought, what IS a Flat Stanley?

Layla giggled through the whole post!
Here are her words...
"I actually knew right away I should send it to you. I love you Grandma!"

LP-Flat Stanley is pretty much the same as your teddy bear. He is flat because he is drawn on a piece of paper. I am thinking That Layla's Flat Stanley will go back with some different outfits that can be easily changed with velcro dots............possibilities are endless!..........................LOL-barfing, how cool is that!
