I was skeptical about the degree of help I would actually get. He is, after all, just a little guy.....
He has his own shovel and he climbed right to the top of the pile and shoveled his little heart out!
That boy moved a lot of rock! He helped me fill the wheelbarrow and didn't stop when he got tired. He tried calling his mom out to help us. She ventured out and shoveled a little, but headed back in. She tried to get Gavin to join her for an afternoon nap........ He told her that we had a garden to build and that she should help! She told him that she didn't come on vacation to work. He didn't miss a beat and replied that he didn't come on vacation to sleep!
I should have shot a "before" picture. Hind sight and all that. This is the garden that we built together. Presents a nicer entrance to my park, don't you think? He helped me split the day lilies with his trusty shovel and dug holes for all the marigolds and sedum.
My daughter and son-in-law will be coming next month with my eight year granddaughter, Layla and her big brother, Gage. I will have to come up with a project for Layla to do. It is nice to think of Gavin every time I look at that garden. Gage is 14, so I doubt he will want to dig with me. He will be busy learning to drive in my car when he isn't in the pool. I bet he will take over my pool cleaning for me, though. I can't wait to see them. Miss my kids and their kids today!

Family makes our world go round don't they? I often wish I had had more kids so I could have more family members around me.
I know what you mean. I had a great time with my Robin the past four days.
I know what you mean. :-(
August 13th...let the countdown begin!
And it's a beautiful garden, too. How sweet that you can think of Gavin every time you walk by.
Missing our kids and grandkids....I think it's every mothers cross to bear.
What a good little helper he was - he must really enjoy just spending time with you.
That looks fabulous! There is a campground near here, everytime I pass it I think of you. It's not nearly as nice as yours though. I keep doing a mental comparison when I drive by lol. Those poor people, I dont even know who runs it but I think they're not doing half as good a job as you are.
What a gorgeous little boy your grandson is! I love kids & the way they are so eager to help.
Different stages at different ages, of course!
