35 Years Today

Today is a very special day. My twins are 35 years old!!! This picture is about 20 years old. They look more alike in this picture than at any other time in their lives.

The most common question people will ask you when you have two babies is "Are they twins?". When you answer in the affirmative you will be asked "Are they identical?". I would always answer, "No, one is a boy and one is a girl........." To be identical the babies would share the same sex. One egg splits with identical twins, with fraternal twins there are two eggs involved. So, the next question was "Well, I mean, do they look alike?". I would always ask my own question at that point..."Well, do they??"

They may not look alike or think alike, but they share a bond to this day. I am very proud of my grown up babies. They have each chosen mates that I love as much as I love my own children. They each have given me the most wonderful grandchildren I could ask for. They are both responsible, productive members of society and make me proud every day.

I suppose the only thing that would make me happier about these two would be a visit ..................to come see your mom and dad .............

I am missing my twins today and remembering the past 35 years ............. well, only the good parts..............

I know what you mean about missing those who are far away. Son is coming home in 8 days, though I'm not counting ;o)

When my g'girl (who is an identical twin) was asked by a mother at school if she and her sister were twins, she answered 'no, were not even related.' Obviously tired of the question.

Happy Birthday! Now did you have them when you were 12? Kidding, kidding, but you don't look old enough to have kidlets that are 35!

JR and Squirrel are 20 mths apart and I was always asked "Are they twins" and when I responded no people would invariably say "Are you sure?" Um, yeah - I was there. Jeesh. People.

Happy birthday to your twin darlings. I always think that MOMS should celebrate on their children's birthdays more so that than birthee. I mean, come on... we did all the work from day one!

So Happy Birthday to you too!

I assure you all that I am indeed old enough! These chidren were born 4 days before my 22nd birthday. I held my son, Jeff, in my arms for the very first time on my birthday and it was the best gift I ever got! He was an unsightly little thing with great big feet and hands dangling from a tiny frame, while his sister looked like a tiny little doll made to perfection. And my Jilly is right ..... all the memories are good ones!
