Spring Is Here .... Maybe

Announcing Spring! I think. I hope.

The tulips are convinced ...... not to mention the ever present dandelions.

My peonies are reaching up through the soil.

The crab apple tree is blossoming bravely and growing tall and majestic. There is at least 2' of new growth in this tree.

The peach tree seems happy with tiny pink buds.

Look at all the baby peach trees! Where is my shovel .......

Pansies in the wishing well. I decided to leave the Christmas lights in place, and light it up on the weekends. Or, maybe I was just too lazy to take them down?

Martha, the boy cat, wants to play hide and seek ....

The Welcome sign is out .......

but, this is not what I had in mind! I was sweeping the front porch. The recent storms washed the dirt from the flower bed onto the porch. Apparently, that was not all. I thought it was a twig that looked like a snake.

As I swept closer, I realized that it was a snake. After all the wind and rain, the temperature dropped to 31. This guy looks like he wanted to strike and froze in that position. He must have been here for awhile, he is pretty dehydrated.

I did some weeding yesterday in the gardens that border the front porch. I am glad I swept first. I was not as eager to stick my hands into the ground cover to eliminate the dandelions as usual.

I hope we don't get another round of freezing temperatures at night. The tomato plants I so carefully planted and surrounded with cages are dead. The asparagus is sending spears up and in just two days is ready to harvest!

I HOPE spring is here to stay! We got a couple of snow flakes on Friday, but last night we were able to leave the furnace off.

(Having learned the hard way, I don't plant tomatoes or warm-weather plants until Mother's Day.)

The sneak cold attacks; the freeze ambush; that's what I hate. I only want to put the flannels away.

We've had two nights of frost here and daytime temps haven't been that great either. Nope not feeling like getting my hands dirty......

It sure looks like spring has sprung in your neck of the woods! It is still hiding by me. I've yet to see some flowers out here. We had a dusting of snow too. It is getting downright insulting. I am dying for some warm weather

I think our spring is about a week behind. The redbuds are just now popping out.

Hubby lost half his plants too. But spring can't get here soon enough for me. I need that sunshine like that sun needs to rehydrate.

Asparagus? wow. didn't know that grew elsewhere. Stockton's sandy river bottom soil is perfect for it to grow here in California. I know we ship the stuff all over the world. We are now heading towards summer with temps in the 80s. Yesterday was 91. I am not complaining as I love summer time. Come visit us.
