Will Wonders Never Cease?

You will no doubt recall my frustration when a camper wheeled over my tulip bed. It is still to wet to go boulder hunting in the woods and my tulip bed has remained unprotected. On this past Sunday as I was gazing mindlessly out the door of my store and watching all the campers leave. I was humming my special song (....it's the most wonderful day of the week.....all the campers are leaving, and my heart is heaving a sigh of relief......). I was in my happy place, anticipating closing the store early and spending some time in my sewing room in a fit of creation. I saw a big semi slowing and then coming in the entrance drive. He ignored my stop sign and gunned his engine as he turned left towards the exit drive.......... and cutting it way too short, pulled his trailer over my tulip bed. I was incensed. It was a Werners truck.

Being the clever one that I am, I looked them up online and whipped out an e-mail to the company. I told them that I did not mind their driver using my more than adequate driveway and parking lot to turn around; but that I did mind him driving through my tulip bed. I went on to say that I doubted I would even get a response, but that I wanted them to know that the name Werners would now have a negative impression as far as I was concerned.

I did get a response the very next day saying that my e-mail had been forwarded to the correct department. I was satisfied that someone was reading my letter and promptly forgot about it.....well except mentioning to he who hunts boulders to get cracking. So, imagine my surprise today when I opened my e-mail and found that they would be sending an adjuster from their insurance company to assess the damage! Who knew that some companies still take responsibility for the actions of those in their employ!

So, if ever you would need a trucking company, let me recommend Werners!

Good for you for emailing and good for Werner's for being a community-minded company!

Now that's great!!! I guess it does pay to "bitch" sometimes. :-)

Wow. I'm impressed. I rarely have the gumption to bitch (thoroughly deserved or not), but your story may inspire me.

Great news! Good for you for taking the time to email them. It is nice to hear of a company taking responsibility. I am glad to hear you will get compensated for it.

That is a great story! I would have thought they wanted 'proof' that it was their truck that did it. Make sure the adjuster knows how much time you had to put into that flower bed and how much you 'make' an hour! Finally, you'll should be getting paid for what you're worth!

Wow. That's impressive. These days it seems like companies could care less about others not to mention someone else's flower bed. Awesome job!

Very impressive. It sounds like Werner's is a company who wants to maintain a good impression. Good for you for complaining and good for you for letting us know they are making good on your complaint. Keep us informed of the outcome!

I love it when companies come through. That is a wonderful story. Not only did you give the company a chance to fix the situation, but they steped up the the plate and are doing something about it. I would be interested to hear what their adjuster actually says though.

Good job on Werner's part - I am glad you wrote the email and you are getting some attention [deservedly so]

Tell 'em they were heirloom tulips - basically priceless and [sob!] you just don't know how you are going to replace them. Oh and you planted them in soil dotted with gold flecks. heehee JUST KIDDING.

Can't wait to see what they do.

How wonderful! Nice to be heard and responded to. Though I have found that if I take the time to contact a company I have an issue with, they will usually respond. Most people assume they won't be heard and so do not bring their complaints to the attention of the offender.

Wow! That's pretty nice! We were once sideswiped by a DSL driver and never got the insurance money to fix our car. That's great that they were so upstanding! It's even better than calling the 1-800 number on the back to report their driving.

awesome! i'm fixing to do some complaining myself. i pulled up in front of the medical office this morning to unload ron and his scooter. i couldn't get to the "patient unloading" area because of a lab corp vehicle. i'm sorry... but they should park like every other delivery company (on the street) to do their business, NOT block the patient unloading spot. i'm still ticked.

glad they are sending out an insurance adjuster!

Hello Kathy
As you said - wonders will ne're cease. Good for you for following through and letting them know what the problem was, now at least that driver will think twice before taking a short cut. Wonder if he'll have his pay docked??
Take care
Cathy

Glad to hear that some companies still take pride in their company. I just discovered your blog and have enjoyed reading about your campground. I am a camper as well but in NJ.

Whoa! Wonder indeed. Awesome. It will be interesting to see how they access the damage.

Poor tulips. :(

Good for you!! Congratulations, to you, for complaining, and to Werners for being decent!
So many stories these days with negative results, but yours made me feel really good!
However, I am so sorry for your poor Tulips. I hope they replace those!

Yahoo! So it DOES pay to complain once in awhile! Good for you! Maybe you should drive over the flower bed a few more time for good measure! LOL! Keep us posted on the results!
