Happy Birthday, Gage

Today you turn 15. Seems like only yesterday you were a mere baby. So sweet to hold. Then, before I could turn around, there you were in Kindergarten, holding my hand....... until we reached the line in which you stood to enter that big boy place of learning. That is when hugs and kisses were banned to non public places. You would lapse from time to time, but not very often.

You are a great kid, grandson of mine. Almost in spite of yourself.

On my last visit I wanted a family picture. This is as close as you would get to the rest of your family. I guess it didn't help much that everyone found this attitude somewhat amusing. Well, everyone but Georgie.

I told you were my heart the day you were born and many times after that. I asked you if your sister could be my soul on the day she was born. You looked up at me with those wonderful blue eyes and said, "No, I am all that to you." You were very serious and solemn. Brought tears to my eyes. You grabbed my heart then and are still there along with your sister and your cousins............I seem to have a very big heart.

I am proud to be your Gramma.

Nice looking kid. And by the way... you're no slouch yourself grams.

Fifteen is a tough year, but something tells me he will glide through. It helps to be surrounded by wonderful loving family who are the safe-guardians of hearts and souls and so much more.

Happy happy birthday Gage!

Alix is right, 15 is hard and it seems to stay that way until they hit 17/18. By then they'll get comfortable with their 'skin' and they'll show their love for their grandma again. Ir in my case, mom....

[You are so photogenic, how lovely - and you two look so much alike!]

I wish he could cheer up and lose the teenager "angst" attitude he has going on - He just looks like he would be such fun if he didn't take himself so seriously, y'know? Teenagers should realize this is such a miniscule part of their lives and there is so much out there.

People [and parents] are constantly making excuses for teenagers ["Oh, it's a stage, they'll grow out of it, blah, blah, blah] but I don't know if there is something in the water here or what but we just don't have these broody kids who are trying to "grow out of a phase" - y'know? And I hate to say that out loud sometimes because people will say "Oh, look Skippy is 'lying' or 'exaggerating' or whatever." but really it just isn't like that.

People need to stop "threatening" that this phase will last! :D

I don't know what the answer is, but I surely know if I could bottle it we'd all be rich! heehee....

I hope he had a wonderful birthday and shares his g-ma with his sis. :D

oh my goodness, so it's not just my 16 year old who wouldn't be caught dead with a smile on his face? Such a tough age, and I'm talking for us!

Yeah, 15 sucks. I was miserable during my 15th year, my daughter cried and my son moped through theirs.

So he's just a normal kid. thank god we grow out of it and become human again.

From one birthday kid to another...happy birthday Gage.

I would like to clarify that Gage is perfectly cheerful and happy 90% of the time. He doesn't have a teenager "angst" attitude going on...he was having a bad night.

"SkippyMom", if you were trying to offend me (Gage's mom) with your comment you succeeded. Smiley faces don't make your words less condescending.

Mom, thanks for the post. Gage had a great birthday! He was starting pitcher in the high school game and had try outs for traveling right after. He did awesome in both!

Happy Birthday to Gage! This was a beautiful post.

I cannot believe how quickly the time flies. I dread the day when my children are too cool to love on in public!

Happy Birthday Gage!

I love the part about kisses being limited to non public places. That used to drive my mother crazy when my brother and I used to get embarrassed when she would show affection toward us!

Happy Belated Birthday, Gage! I see a lot of resemblance between him and you, Kathy. They grow up so fast, don't they?

Aw, Happy Birthday, Gage.

The years between 14 and 18 are the toughest. I have a feeling you are very, very special to him and you keep him anchored.

Gorgeous (!!!) picture of you!

Happy Birthday to that man! I am sure, if we could choose, no one would ever choose to be a teenage male!!
