Let Me Be

These are a few of my least favorite things. It is true that this does not happen every day, but often enough to make me wonder why I strive to keep the park looking clean and nice for my visitors.

Perhaps I should provide an ashtray?

Or maybe I should just be thankful they did not throw them on the ground. It is so dry here that the ground is cracking open.

I feel like that today. Dried up and hard. I need to have some solitude. Solitude is in short supply here. I have to hide to get it. There are times when the only thing I want is to be left alone. To be able to think a thought without interruption. To just be. Let me be.

I will tire of the solitude of winter soon enough, but right now, this moment ......... I long for it. I am not fit to be around people in my current state. He who knows me best can confirm this.

You could provide an ashtray but people would still throw them on the ground. People are pigs.

I know what you mean about solitude. After a whole summer of helping my sister move and 4 separate grandchild visits (though I love them and had fun) I am ready for some myself.

The ground here is all cracked like that and the grass is brown and crunchy.

Ugh. Those are the same people that trash your bathrooms and abuse the pool. Trash.

Try and hang in there...just a few more weeks and it will quiet down a bit. I wish you could get away.

Hugs my friend.

I say put out an outdoor ashtray - amazon.com sells them starting for $26. I THINK most people would use them if they saw one. I would HOPE at least!

I think you need to get the outdoor ashtray too. That way when they don't use it, you have a true gripe with them. Yes it's a bad habit and I hate finding them on my driveway but with as dry as it is there, be glad they are there and not starting a fire in your landscape (I've seen this happen before).

I doubt an ashtray would help someone with no manners to begin with.
Hope you get a breather soon...remember Fall is on the way...ahhhhhh!

An ashtray, yes, but as others have stated, people are pigs.

Sorry to hear how parched your earth is. Minneapolis has been quite green this year, although we've had more heat/humidity/storms/winds than are normal...

An ashtray is probably a good idea. Dwell on their reward for their rudeness--when they quit, like I did several years ago, then encounter a smoker and realize That's how I smelled! They'll be apologizing to friends who have loved them all these years.

i would hope they'd use the ashtray. but, if they don't have manners then it might be a frustrating battle.

good luck to you.

When I feel like that I go hide in my laundry room. There's always something I can do and if I turn on the dryer I don't hear anything else. Hope it improves.

Hope you feel better soon. I know just how you feel about the butts. One of the things I hate about smokers is that they literally don't comprehend that butts are trash. They think throwing them down is something they HAVE to do.

I once worked at a convenience store. People would throw them on the ground as soon as they got out of the car. They couldn't wait until they got to the ashtray by the door. You wouldn't believe how many times I was cursed at for refusing to turn on the gas pump for a person holding a cigarette.

Sweeping up butts and trash from the ground when you barely have time to do what is supposed to have to be done will make you crave solitude in a hurry!
